Our class periods and reading blocks are often filled with students practicing and applying comprehension skills; they are “doing” a lot of reading. However, these experiences cannot replace the explicit teaching of individual comprehension skills.
It’s only when students receive explicit instruction on specific strategies that they can think about and beyond any text.
This 60-minute webinar will honor the various experiences packed into the typical reading block/ELA class period and show educators how to teach reading comprehension — starting with the introduction of a reader’s three voices.
